What is Pokemon Lazarus?
Pokemon Lazarus is a fan-made Game Boy Advance game created by Nemo622, who is also known for making Pokemon Emerald Seaglass, a game that received lots of praise and was loved by many players. Pokemon Lazarus takes place in the new Ilos region, which is inspired by Greece. The game has a similar visual style to Pokemon Emerald Seaglass, which contributed to its positive reception. One of the cool features of Pokemon Lazarus is the day and night system, which makes the experience feel more realistic as you play through different times of the day. Also the themes of rediscovery and exploration are key goals of Pokemon Lazarus.
Main Features
1. New Region & Storyline
In this game, you’ll be exploring a brand-new region called Ilos, inspired by Greece. This area is filled with different environments, like tropical islands, busy cities, and sandy deserts, giving you a lot of variety to discover. Along with the new map, there’s a fresh storyline to dive into, featuring new places, exciting events, and many things to interact with.
2. New Starter Pokemon
There are 9 new starter Pokemon to choose from, with 3 from each of the following regions: Alola, Kalos, and Paldea. The Alola starters are Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio; from Kalos, you’ll get Froakie, Chespin, and Fennekin; and from Paldea, Fuecoco, Sprigatito and Quaxly – are ready for you!
3. New and Improved Pokedex
The game introduces a thoughtfully designed Pokedex with around 350-400 Pokemon. Many of the Pokemon from Pokemon Emerald Seaglass have been added, but with some balance tweaks to make the gameplay more enjoyable.
4. New Characters & Villains
Meet new characters throughout your journey, along with a fresh group of villains that you’ll need to stop! These new faces will add extra layers of intrigue and challenge as you progress through the game.
5. Hard Mode

7. Accelerated In-game Time
The game features a quick day-night cycle, where a full day passes in about 45 minutes. This makes it easier for you to find specific Pokemon that only appear during certain times of day without waiting too long.
8. Overworld Pokemon Encounters
You’ll be able to see some Pokemon wandering around in the open world on many routes, adding more ways to find Pokemon. In addition to random encounters and DexNav hunting, this feature brings the Ilios Region to life. And yes, shiny Pokemon will be visible in the overworld, so you won’t miss them!
9. Puzzles from HGSS
The game brings back the fun sliding puzzles from Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, found in Johto’s Ruins of Alph. These puzzles are part of exploring certain caves and ruins in the Ilios Region. If you’re not a fan of puzzles, don’t worry! The only mandatory puzzles are similar to the ones in HGSS, so if you get stuck, you can easily find a solution online.
